Ibom Angels FC, a two-time President Federation Cup finalist in 2017 and 2018, has secured a spot in the quarterfinals of the competition.
The Orange Ladies defeated Delta Queens FC 1-0 in a tightly contested match at Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu on Saturday.
Ugobest Osuji's spot kick in the 39th minute proved decisive, showcasing the team's determination to progress in the competition after missing out on the Super Six playoffs this season.
The team displayed impressive performances from goalkeeper Godstime Dickson to the midfield trio of Mirian Okocha, Ugobest Osuji, and Wami Georgline, who was later replaced by Dianabasi Jumbo.
The attacking unit, led by captain Abasiofon Uwah, Ijeoma Oneamgba, and Ayishat Raheem, who replaced Victory Jacob, put pressure on Delta Queens FC's defense, comprising Paul-Ben Ayebapreye, Godsgift Afigbediat, Helen Daniel, and Eyitemi Omagbemi.
Ugobest Osuji has now raised her goal tally in the competition to two goals, while Abasiofon Uwah still maintains six goals, followed by Ijeoma Oneamgba with five goals. Ayishat Raheem and Victory Jacob each have two goals, while Eyitemi Omagbemi has one goal.
Ibom Angels FC will now await their next opponent in the quarterfinals.
