Kwanta stated that the visit was aimed at boosting the players' morale and reaffirming the government’s full support as they strive to reclaim national glory.
He recalled that in 2019, when the Amazons lifted the Federation Cup in Kaduna, he was in charge of the ministry and stood by the team throughout their successful campaign.
“This team has made Nasarawa proud before, and I have no doubt they will do it again. Governor Abdullahi A. Sule is solidly behind you and will be present in Lagos to support you all the way,” Kwanta said.
Head Coach Christopher Danjuma expressed gratitude for the visit and promised that the team would give their all on the pitch to bring the trophy back home.
Team captain, Josephine Mathias, who spoke on behalf of the players, also thanked the commissioner and appealed for continued support from the ministry. She noted that the team is in high spirits and determined to win the trophy as a gift to the governor and the people of Nasarawa State.
The commissioner was accompanied by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, along with other senior officials.
Nasarawa Amazons will face fierce rivals Rivers Angels in the final of the 2025 President Federation Cup, scheduled for June 28, at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos.
