As the battle intensifies for the 2025 President Federation Cup Quarter-finals, four-time winners of the cup—2005, 2009, 2013, and 2014, and arguably the most successful team in Nigeria—Enyimba International FC will be chasing another FA Cup silverware after 11 years of not winning the cup.
Recall that the People’s Elephant last won the now rebranded FA Cup, the President Federation Cup, in 2014 when they defeated the defunct Dolphin FC 2-1 in the finals.
For a place in the quarter-finals, Enyimba will be battling against Abakaliki FC, who secured their spot after a tense penalty shootout victory over Katsina United following a goalless draw.
The match against Abakaliki FC will be an Oriental derby for Stanley Eguma, who has won the cup before. It is a match he cannot afford to take lightly, and he should consider fielding a full squad if they do not want to end the season empty-handed.
Another intriguing matchup sees Nasarawa United, fresh from a dominant 5-0 thrashing of Ijele FC, taking on Bayelsa United, who comfortably dispatched FC Ebedei 2-0 in the previous round.
Perhaps one of the toughest matches will be between the youthful Nigeria National League (NNL) side, Beyond Limits, and the free-scoring Ikorodu City, who have scored an astonishing 14 goals in three league matches.
This underscores the potency of the Oga Boys after dispatching Crown FC 3-1, while Beyond Limits pulled off a stunning 2-1 upset against Rivers United.
Beyond Limits FA is not an easy opponent to handle, especially with the strategy they used to defeat NPFL side Rivers United FC.
Elsewhere, Warri Wolves, who advanced due to Shooting Stars’ disqualification, will test their mettle against Wikki Tourists.
In another exciting fixture, giant-killers Solution FC, who shocked Lobi Stars with a 2-1 victory, will face Kwara United.
Plateau United will face Osun United in the concluding Round of 16 fixture.
