The head coach of City Football Club of Abuja, Sunday Bege, has expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance after a 3-0 win over Bussdor United FC of Abuja.
Bege, who made this statement in an interview in Abuja, expressed his satisfaction with the team, highlighting their goal-scoring ability and mental preparedness.
Matchday five of the ongoing 2025 New Year Mega Lottery (NYML) Nationwide League One (NLO) Division One was played at the Area 3 football pitch.
Abidemi Kayode, a former Kicker Football Club player, opened the scoring in the 26th minute for City FC, tapping in a precise assist from Awara Obinna.
Obinna doubled the lead in the 67th minute with a dazzling solo effort, dribbling past multiple defenders from the corner side before slotting the ball into the net.
Ozor Franklin sealed the victory with a clinical finish in the 89th minute, chipping the ball over the goalkeeper to secure a comprehensive win for City FC.
Bege said the team’s goal-scoring ability should not come as a surprise, given their strong performance throughout the competition.
“If you have been watching our matches since the start of the competition, you should know we do not have issues with scoring goals.
“Every player up front is a goal poacher, and I believe it will not be different in future games,” he said.
He applauded the team’s mentality, technical skill, and tactical execution while praising the entire team’s effort and emphasizing their dominance in the match.
“The City FC attackers are natural goal-scorers and are expected to continue scoring,” he added.
Bege mentioned that City FC has planned for all upcoming matches and aims to maintain a clean sheet by the end of the tournament.
“We have played four matches and won all of them so far.
“City FC is the top scorer with 23 goals, followed by Ahudiyannema FC with 17 goals, Crowned Academy, Warinjie FC, and AVM Football Club, each with 16 goals,” he said.
City FC, Police FC, Mailantarki Care FC, FWC Champion FC, Anglican FC, EFCC FC, and Woodpecker FC are among the teams playing at the Area 3 center in Abuja.
Other teams include Bussdor United FC, Paul Edel FC, Public Complaints Commission (PCC) FC, Derby FC, Beautiful Tour FC, Black Scorpion FC, and Supreme Court FC.
A total of 32 teams from across the country are competing for promotion to the Nigeria National League (NNL), which started on April 16 and will run until July 30.
