2025 AMAPRO: Dickalo FC, NPFL Allstars Crash Out as Laycon FA, HOP Secure Quarterfinal Spots

The 2025 AMAPRO Football Championship has served up another thrilling round of fixtures as the race to the quarterfinals reached a boiling point.

While favourites like Dickalo FC and NPFL Allstars fell by the wayside, Laycon FA and HOP FA produced statement victories to book their places in the knockout round.

 

In one of the most anticipated clashes of the round, Gateway FA came from behind to eliminate Dickalo FC from the tournament with a 3-1 victory.

 

Despite an early goal from Abbas Yakub in the 15th minute, Gateway responded in style. Olaoye David levelled matters in the 27th minute before Apanisile Taofeek turned the tie around with a brilliant strike in the 40th minute and sealed the result from the penalty spot in the 70th minute.

 

Kwara Football Academy (KFA) edged out DollyP FA in a tightly contested encounter.

 

Ikechukwu Ifeanyi gave KFA a dream start with a goal inside the first minute, but DollyP responded through Patrick Ogunrinde in the 20th minute.

 

However, Uthman Tajudeen’s 79th-minute effort proved the match-winner. KFA 2-1 DollyP FA.

 

Laycon FA delivered a commanding display to seal qualification with a 3-1 win over Unity FA. Adelowo Pelumi opened the scoring in the 9th minute, while Olaniyi Moshood bagged a brace in the 58th and 85th minutes.

 

Despite a red card setback, Laycon FA showed composure to wrap up the win. Unity FA 1-3 Laycon FA.

 

Defending champions Abraysports FC continued their title defence with a professional performance against Kasam FA, securing a 2-0 win.

 

Hassan Ibitoye scored twice in the 34th and 52nd minutes to keep the reigning champions on course.

 

Gaa Akanbi FC also maintained their 100 percent record, defeating Da Faria FC in a 3-1 commanding style.

 

After falling behind to Musa Ibrahim’s 48th-minute strike, they roared back with goals from Egwaikhide Samuel (penalty), Adeloye Shola, and Solomon Bukunmi.

 

House of Prayers (HOP FA) were ruthless in front of goal as they dismantled Excel FA 4-1 to book their quarterfinal spot. Imam Abdulquadri netted a brace (8’, 65’), while Omodara Olamilekan and Mohammed Awwal also found the back of the net. Christopher Anthony’s penalty in the 62nd minute was Excel’s only reply.

 

In what was the major upset of the round, Discovery Talent FA humbled star-studded NPFL boys with a dominant 3-0 victory. Zaharadeen Ibrahim opened the scoring in the 32nd minute, followed by a brace from Abdulrazak Mohammed in the 44th and 88th minutes to seal a famous win.

 

Meanwhile, 10-man HMK FC picked up their first win of the tournament, defeating Araba FC 2-1 in a hard-fought battle to close out matchday two.
