2025/2026 NWFL: Three Queens, One Angel Vie for December Player of the Month

Posted : 06 January 2026

The Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership has opened voting for its December 2025 Player of the Month award, setting the stage for an exciting contest between four outstanding performers who shone in the league’s final month. The voting is being conducted via the NWFL WhatsApp channel and remains open until 3:00 PM on Tuesday, January 6, 2026.

The nominees reflect a mix of consistency, skill, and match-winning impact from some of the league’s top sides. The contenders are Atume Doosuur of Edo Queens, Alaba Olabiyi of Bayelsa Queens, Kemi Adegbuyi of FC Robo Queens, and Ramotalahi Kareem of Rivers Angels. Three Queens and one Angel now stand between glory and history as fans decide the last NWFL individual award winner of 2025.

Atume Doosuur was sensational throughout December, scoring in three consecutive matches against Heartland Queens, Ekiti Queens, and Adamawa Queens. Each goal proved decisive, helping Edo Queens secure maximum points in every game. Her composure and ability to rise in critical moments marked her as one of the most reliable attackers in the league during the month.

Alaba Olabiyi also impressed with dominant attacking displays that captured national attention. Her standout performance came in Abuja, where she scored twice and provided an assist in Bayelsa Queens’ 5–0 victory over Naija Ratels FC. Alaba’s vision, creativity, and ability to unlock defences were key to her team’s emphatic performances throughout the month.

Kemi Adegbuyi emerged as one of the brightest attacking prospects in the NWFL with a prolific December for FC Robo Queens. She scored three goals during the month, including a brace in a 4–0 win over Confluence Queens and another in a 5–1 victory over Dannaz Ladies in the Lagos derby. Kemi’s sharp movement, finishing ability, and confidence in front of goal made her a constant threat.

Ramotalahi Kareem delivered crucial performances for Rivers Angels, scoring two match-winning goals in tight games. Her strikes secured a 2–1 win over Pacesetter Queens and a narrow 1–0 victory against Ibom Angels. The Nigeria Under-20 international’s composure in high-pressure situations highlighted her growing importance to the Rivers Angels squad.

With fan voting still ongoing, the stage is set for supporters to determine who will take home the final NWFL individual honour of 2025. It is a battle of form, influence, and decisive moments that defined December across the league—three Queens, one Angel, and only one crown await.
