2025/2026 NWFL Super 6: Edo Queens’ Doosuur, Rivers Angels’ Uwah share Golden Boot

Posted : 16 June 2026

The Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) celebrated the outstanding performers of the 2025/26 Premiership season on Sunday, with several players and clubs receiving individual honours following the conclusion of the Super Six in Port Harcourt.

Fresh from helping Edo Queens secure their second NWFL Premiership title, striker Atume Doosuur finished the season as joint top scorer with 13 goals. The prolific forward shared the prestigious Golden Boot award with Abasiofon Uwah of Rivers Angels, who matched her tally after an impressive campaign.

Both players were among the league’s most consistent attacking threats throughout the regular season and the Super Six, playing key roles for their respective clubs.

Hosts Rivers Angels also received recognition for their exemplary conduct during the competition, earning the Fair Play Award for the 2025/26 season.

In the goalkeeping category, Fatima Oloko of Abia Angels was named Goalkeeper of the Season following a series of outstanding performances between the sticks.

Her consistency, leadership, and crucial saves throughout the campaign proved instrumental to her side’s impressive run.

The biggest individual accolade of the day went to FC Robo Queens midfielder Oluwakemi Adegbuyi, who was crowned the Player of the Season.

The teenage sensation enjoyed a remarkable campaign and was one of the standout performers in the league, combining creativity, leadership, and goals to inspire FC Robo Queens to a strong regular-season campaign.

Reacting to the award, Adegbuyi admitted she was surprised to emerge as the league’s Most Valuable Player, citing her team’s difficult outing during the Super Six despite topping Group B in the regular season.

“I didn’t expect the award because my team didn’t perform well at the Super Six after topping Group B during the regular season,” she said.

“The Super Six is very tough. The defenders were really hard on me and I couldn’t express myself fully. It has been God and my teammates—they are the real support behind me.”

The presentation of the awards brought the curtain down on another memorable NWFL Premiership season, with champions Edo Queens, runners-up Bayelsa Queens, and third-placed Nasarawa Amazons all earning continental qualification spots.

Attention will now shift to the NWFL Championship and Nationwide League competitions as clubs across the country continue preparations for the next phase of women’s football action in Nigeria.
