A thrilling encounter is set for midweek as Heartland Queens take on Ibom Angels in the NWFL Premiership Matchday 6 clash at the Dan Anyiam Stadium mainbowl in Owerri, Imo State.
This will be the first time the two sides meet in the nation’s topflight league. Their only previous encounter was in the 2025 President Federation Cup quarterfinals at Enyimba International Stadium in Aba, Abia State.
The managers on both sides remain the same as in that quarterfinal: Obi Ogbala for Heartland Queens and Edwin Okon for Ibom Angels. Ogbala will be eager to secure a more commanding result this time around.
Coming into Matchday 6, both teams experienced mixed fortunes in the previous round. Heartland Queens managed a goalless draw against newcomers Pacesetters Queens in Ibadan, while Ibom Angels suffered a home defeat to defending champions Bayelsa Queens.
Ogbala is determined to make the Dan Anyiam Stadium a fortress this season, seeking a second home victory in the five-week-old league. He is expected to rely on his best performers, especially those who impressed in recent matches against Edo Queens, Naija Ratels, and Pacesetters Queens. While several players have recovered from minor injuries, the manager is unlikely to make significant changes to the starting lineup.
In the Group A standings, Heartland Queens sit fifth with five points, seven behind leaders Bayelsa Queens, while Ibom Angels are seventh with four points.
Following the midweek clash, Heartland Queens will travel to face Rivers Angels in Matchday 7, promising another exciting contest in the NWFL season.
