Osun Babes FC breathed new life into their relegation battle with a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Confluence Queens on Matchday 14 of the 2025/2026 NWFL Premiership.

Heading into the encounter on the back of an eight-game winless run, the Osogbo-based side showed urgency and determination from kickoff, signaling their intent to turn the tide.

Their early pressure nearly paid off in the 10th minute when Sharon Shomuyiwa rattled the woodwork with a powerful header.

The breakthrough eventually arrived in the 26th minute through Precious Paul, who produced a moment of individual brilliance.

Latching onto a well-delivered pass inside the box, she skillfully beat her marker before calmly slotting past the goalkeeper to hand her side a deserved lead.

Paul, alongside Ebunoluwa Akinola, remained a constant threat throughout the first half, troubling the Confluence Queens’ defense with their movement and attacking flair.

The second half, however, told a different story. With both sides struggling to create clear-cut chances, the contest became more tactical and closely fought.

Osun Babes were forced to dig deep defensively, with Marvis Avwenayeri stepping up at crucial moments to make key interceptions and maintain their slender advantage.

In the end, it was a disciplined and cohesive team performance from the Liadi-led side that secured all three points—a result that lifts them to 12 points and rekindles their hopes of avoiding relegation.

With renewed confidence, Osun Babes will now turn their attention to a crucial clash against Nasarawa Amazons in Ile-Ogbo, where they will look to build on this momentum and continue their late push for survival.

This vital victory provides the Omoluabi Queens with the necessary psychological boost to navigate the remaining fixtures of the season. By ending their winless drought, the team has proven they possess the resilience required to fight for their top-flight status.
