The 2025/2026 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership resumed after the festive break with a full slate of nine fixtures across the country on Match Day 5. The round featured competitive encounters, notable performances, and continued dominance from some of the league’s top teams.
In Lagos, FC Robo Queens maintained their perfect start to the season with a narrow 1–0 victory over debutants Ahudiyannem Queens. Opeyemi Ajakaye scored within seconds of kickoff, giving the Lagos-based side their fifth consecutive win and extending the longest active winning streak in the league. Ahudiyannem Queens, meanwhile, remain in search of their first victory in the Premiership.
Osun Babes claimed a crucial 1–0 away win against Confluence Queens at Iyahmo, with Naimot Kazeem scoring the decisive goal in the 62nd minute. Rivers Angels also impressed with a dominant 3–0 win over Adamawa Queens in Makurdi, as forward Abasiofon Uwah netted a second-half hat-trick, the first of the season.
In Ikenne, Nasarawa Amazons ended Remo Stars Ladies’ unbeaten run with a hard-fought 1–0 victory. Ayatsea Hembafan’s early strike in the 11th minute, which clipped the post before crossing the line, proved decisive. Abia Angels enjoyed a 2–0 win over Sunshine Queens thanks to goals from Ekezie Onyedikachi and Winner David, while Delta Queens secured a similar 2–0 result against Dannaz Ladies in Asaba, with Amarachukwu Onuorah and Rita Tsebee on target.
Defending champions Bayelsa Queens edged past Ibom Angels 2–1 in a closely contested South-South derby, with first-half goals from Kesiena Ojiyovwi and Janet Akekeromowei setting the tone despite a second-half reply from Helen David.
At their temporary home in Abeokuta, Ekiti Queens beat Naija Ratels 1–0, courtesy of a 73rd-minute strike by Ismail Zainab. The only draw of the round came in Ibadan, where Pacesetter Queens and Heartland Queens played out a 0-0 stalemate.
As Match Day 5 concludes, the NWFL Premiership continues to showcase competitive action, with early title contenders asserting their dominance while other teams aim to regroup ahead of the next round of fixtures.
