2025/2026 NWFL Match Day 3: Nasarawa Amazons Impress with 2–0 Away Win

Posted : 13 December 2025

Nasarawa Amazons Football Club of Lafia extended their excellent form in the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership 2025/26 season with a commanding 2–0 away victory over Ahudiyannem Queens Football Club on Matchday 3.

The match kicked off shortly after 4:00 pm at Umuahia Township Stadium in Abia State, with the center referee delivering excellent officiating throughout the encounter. The Amazons started brightly, pressing high and denying the hosts space to build their play. Their intensity kept Ahudiyannem Queens under constant pressure in the first half, which ended goalless as both teams retreated for tactical adjustments.

The second half saw Nasarawa Amazons take control immediately. Just three minutes in, a well-executed corner kick created the breakthrough as Sunday Ohunene finished brilliantly in the 48th minute, silencing the home crowd and boosting the visitors’ morale. Ahudiyannem Queens responded with a more physical style of play, but the Amazons’ superior technique, strength, and tactical discipline ensured total dominance.

The momentum continued in the 70th minute following the introduction of Abdulwahaab Faridat and Ikediuba Peace, whose impact was felt immediately. A smooth passing sequence saw Abdulwahaab deliver a precise ball to Moses Farikikyen, who set up Ikediuba Peace to calmly slot the ball into the far corner, doubling the lead and sealing the victory for Nasarawa Amazons.

With this result, the Amazons secured three important away points, adding to the valuable point earned in Lagos last week against Dannaz Ladies.

After the match, Nasarawa Amazons’ head coach, Christopher Danjuma, praised the team’s unity and also commended Ahudiyannem Queens for their resilience. “Like I said earlier, we came here for nothing less than three points. The players worked together, stayed focused, and the result came with ease,” he stated.

Nasarawa Amazons will now turn their attention to Matchday 4, where they will host Abia Angels at Lafia City Stadium in Nasarawa State.
