2025/2026 NWFL Match Day 16: Ruthless Nasarawa Amazons boost Super Six hopes with emphatic win over Confluence Queens

Posted : 23 April 2026

Nasarawa Amazons FC delivered a statement performance in their push for a Super Six place, dismantling Confluence Queens FC 4–0 in a one-sided 2025/2026 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Match Day 16 encounter at the Lafia City Stadium.

From the opening whistle, the hosts showed urgency befitting a team chasing qualification, taking control of possession and dictating the tempo.

Their intent paid off almost immediately when Ayatsea Hembafen struck in the 4th minute, calmly finishing to hand the Lafia Landladies an early advantage.

Hembafen remained at the heart of the attacking flow and doubled the lead in the 29th minute with another composed effort, underlining her influence in the contest.

The visitors barely had time to regroup before Ogunfuwa Omotoke added a third just three minutes later, marking her birthday with a memorable goal that effectively put the game beyond reach before halftime.

With a comfortable cushion, Head Coach Christopher Danjuma Musa used the second half to rotate his squad and maintain attacking intensity.

The introductions of fresh legs, including Ugbala Osinachi and Okah Adaobi, ensured the pressure never relented on the visitors.

One of those changes paid immediate dividends in the 75th minute when Ugbala Osinachi rose highest to head home the fourth goal, capping a dominant display and sealing an emphatic victory.

Beyond the scoreline, the performance highlighted Nasarawa Amazons’ improved efficiency in front of goal and tactical discipline—qualities that could prove decisive as the league approaches its defining phase.

Speaking after the match, Coach Danjuma emphasized the importance of delivering convincing results at this stage of the season, noting that the team’s focus on attacking precision and mental readiness played a key role in the outcome.

The victory strengthens Nasarawa Amazons’ position in the race for a Super Six berth, as they now shift attention to their next fixture against Sunshine Queens FC on Match Day 17 at the Lafia City Stadium.

With momentum firmly on their side, the Lafia Landladies appear to be peaking at just the right time.

This comprehensive victory underscores the tactical superiority and clinical nature of the Nasarawa Amazons as they tighten their grip on a qualification spot. The team now looks ahead to their upcoming clash with Sunshine Queens, aiming to maintain this high standard of performance.
