2025/2026 NWFL Match Day 16: FC Robo seal Super Six return with derby triumph

Posted : 23 April 2026

FC Robo International confirmed their place in the 2025/2026 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Super Six in style, grinding out a crucial 1-0 victory over Remo Stars Ladies in a tense Southwest derby decided in Lagos.

In a fixture where margins were always expected to be slim, the Lagos Landladies showed composure and tactical discipline, doing just enough to secure maximum points and punch their ticket to the championship playoffs.

It was a performance built more on control than flair, but one that underlined their credentials as genuine title contenders.

The result leaves Robo firmly on top of Group B with 35 points, opening up a six-point cushion over second-placed Nasarawa Amazons, who kept their own hopes alive with a dominant 4-0 win against Confluence Queens.

With just two rounds of matches remaining, Robo’s position is now unassailable in the race for qualification.

Their progression brings the number of confirmed Super Six teams to four, joining Group A heavyweights Rivers Angels, reigning champions Bayelsa Queens, and Edo Queens, all of whom have already secured their spots in the season’s deciding phase.

While Robo can now shift focus toward fine-tuning for the playoffs, attention in Group B intensifies as the battle for the remaining Super Six slot heads into a decisive stretch.

With teams still within striking distance, the closing fixtures promise high stakes and little room for error.

For FC Robo, however, the job is done for now. The next challenge will be turning qualification into championship glory.

The Lagos-based club has demonstrated remarkable consistency throughout the campaign to secure this early progression. As the regular season winds down, all eyes will be on how they handle the pressure of the upcoming playoffs against Nigeria’s elite sides.
