2025/2026 NPFL Season: Salami Unveils Ambitious Plans for Shooting Stars

Posted : 15 July 2025

The Executive Chairman of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan, Honourable Taiwo Lekan Salami, has unveiled his intentions to elevate the club to a new level of professionalism.

Speaking in Ibadan on Sunday morning while addressing players and officials before their departure to Lagos for the Eko International Cup 2025, Salami expressed his determination to restore the club's former glory by motivating the team and upgrading infrastructure.

Among his foremost initiatives is the plan to establish a permanent site for the club. This facility will include a standard players’ hostel, training pitches, a gym, lounge, restaurant, coaches’ hostel, and other modern amenities.

“I have lots of lofty plans for this club. We will build a permanent site for Shooting Stars before the end of this administration. We’ll have a hostel so that all of you will be together. Under me, that disunity will stop,” Salami said.

“There will be training pitches, gym, lounge, restaurant, coaches’ hostel, and other facilities that will make it a very conducive place,” he added.

Salami disclosed that he has already approached the Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, regarding the allocation of land for the project. Even if government funding is unavailable, he remains determined to see the project through.

“I am already talking to the government. I’ve told the governor to give me land. I want to build a permanent site.
If the government does not have money to build it, no problem — just give me the land.
I’m already speaking with sponsors. That’s why you haven’t been seeing me often. I’m moving around, talking to sponsors who can invest in Shooting Stars, and we’ll give them sponsorship rights — jerseys, pitch panels, and our buses. Those conversations are ongoing,” he stated.

However, he emphasized that the success of his vision hinges on the commitment and performance of the players.

“But if I’m doing all these, to whom much is given, much is expected.
You also need to help and support me.
This man has a vision — how can we pay him back? Just get good results. Do your best to get the job done on the pitch,” Salami urged.

Reacting on behalf of the players, left-back Ikouwem Utin thanked the chairman for his dedication to their welfare and assured him that the team would reciprocate by delivering the results needed to actualize his vision.
