2025/2026 NPFL Season: Oriental Derby beckons as Enyimba seek late surge

Fresh off a convincing 3–0 win over Katsina United, Enyimba International FC are turning their attention to a decisive Oriental Derby showdown against Rangers International FC, as they push for a stronger finish to the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League season.

The victory in Aba, powered by goals from Stanley Dimgba, Chidera Michael, and Womah Wilson, provided a timely boost for the nine-time champions, lifting them to 13th place with 43 points and creating some breathing space above the relegation zone.

However, head coach Emmanuel Deutsch Detchoua Gustave is keeping his feet firmly on the ground, insisting that his side cannot afford to relax at this critical stage of the campaign.

With just four matches left, the Cameroonian tactician is rallying his players to build on the momentum and aim for a higher position on the log.

“The focus now is consistency. We have to keep working and improving with every game,” Deutsch said.

The upcoming clash at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium presents another stern test, with both sides eager to assert dominance in one of Nigerian football’s fiercest rivalries.

Despite their recent struggles, Enyimba’s experience and pedigree could prove vital in the final stretch, as they look to steer further clear of danger and finish the season on a high.

Currently sitting 13th with 43 points from 34 matches, Enyimba remain just three points above the drop zone, making every remaining fixture crucial in their quest for stability and resurgence.

The People's Elephant must maintain their focus as they prepare for the high-pressure atmosphere of the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium. Securing points in the Oriental Derby will be essential for Enyimba to solidify their standing and ensure a respectable conclusion to a challenging campaign.
