2025/2026 NPFL Matchday 2 Preview: Abia Warriors Eye Nasarawa United’s Scalp in Lafia

The 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) continues this weekend with an exciting clash as Abia Warriors take on Nasarawa United at the Lafia City Stadium in Matchday 2.

 

The Umu Chineke head into the game on a high after a hard-fought victory over Kano Pillars in their season opener in Umuahia. With momentum on their side, they will look to consolidate on their bright start and make a statement against a familiar rival.

 

Last season, the Solid Miners inflicted a heavy defeat on Abia Warriors at the Lafia City Stadium, where star man Anas Yusuf scored a hat-trick. The reverse fixture in Umuahia ended 1–1, though it was little consolation for the Warriors after their earlier loss.

 

This Sunday, 31st August at 4pm, Abia Warriors’ head coach Imama Amapakabo will place his trust in new recruits to change the narrative. The Rivers-born tactician is confident that fresh energy and skill will help his side overcome the Solid Miners and avoid a repeat of last season’s disappointment.
