The 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 2 fixture at the Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenagoa promises high drama as Barau FC head coach, Ladan Bosso, makes an emotional return to his former club, Bayelsa United FC.
Bosso, who last season guided the Prosperity Boys to a respectable league finish, stunned many by leaving to take charge of NPFL newcomers, Barau FC. Now, just two games into the new season, he finds himself back on familiar ground — but this time in the opposing dugout.
Preparing his side for the challenge, Bosso expressed optimism about securing points on the road after their goalless draw against Enyimba on opening day.
“Bayelsa United is my former team. I know them well, and they also know me. Going to Yenagoa is not new to me, and I hope we return to Kano with points,” Bosso said.
Barau FC, nicknamed the Maliya Boys, will be eager to convert their dominance into goals after being left frustrated by Enyimba in Kano.
Meanwhile, Bayelsa United began their campaign on a high, defeating Shooting Stars 1-0 away, thanks to Malik Kehinde’s decisive strike. The Prosperity Boys will now look to build momentum in front of their home fans.
New signing Edwin Ayiba has already rallied supporters to fill the stands and drive the team forward.
“This Sunday the stands can’t stay silent. We need them alive, we need you against Barau FC. Together we can make the ground unstoppable,” Ayiba urged.
Head-to-Head
This will be the first-ever meeting between Bayelsa United and Barau FC in NPFL history.
