2025/2026 NPFL Matchday 17: Kwara United Eyes Positive Result Against Enyimba

Kwara United is set to face Enyimba International FC on Matchday 17 of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) with renewed confidence following an impressive 2–0 win over Niger Tornadoes last Sunday at the Rashidi Yekini Mainbowl, George Innih Stadium, Ilorin. The Harmony Boys had been without a victory in three consecutive games but returned to winning form with a dominant performance that could easily have produced more goals.

After 16 games, Kwara United sits 10th on the NPFL table, while Enyimba, despite recent changes in their technical team, surprisingly occupy 13th position. The former champions have struggled for consistency and, playing at home in Aba, will be eager to claim a positive result. Kwara United, meanwhile, will aim to build on their home triumph and continue their strong form on the road.

The Harmony Boys boast attacking talents like Bright Babatunde and Eze Ogbodo Chibuzor, supported by midfielders Akanni Akeem and Victor Adeoye, while wingers Philip Ozo, Junior Aimufua, and Ibrahim Yahaya provide pace and creativity. Defensively, Arinze Ogbonna and Saheed Olaniyi are expected to anchor the backline. Though Aliyu Saludeen and Shola Abdulraheem remain sidelined due to injuries, Issa Gata has returned to light training and is working towards full fitness, though he is not yet ready for competitive action.

Historically, Enyimba has dominated league encounters between the sides. However, last season saw a balance of results, with Kwara United winning in Ilorin and Enyimba claiming victory in Aba. As the league approaches the end of the first round, teams are mindful of the intensity, tactics, and off-the-pitch strategies that often influence outcomes during this decisive phase of the season.

Head Coach Ashifat Suleiman emphasized the team’s commitment to the league, affirming that the players remain focused on achieving strong results and securing a solid finish to the season.
