Wikki Tourists FC began their 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 1 campaign with a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Plateau United in Bauchi.
The win marked a triumphant return for the Baby Elephants to the top flight following their promotion back to the NPFL.
The only goal of the match came in the 41st minute when new signing Louis Dadong calmly converted a penalty, marking his first official goal for the club. That strike proved sufficient to secure all three points on home soil.
Wikki Tourists’ starting lineup featured several new signings, who impressed with a performance full of energy, discipline, and determination. Although the team missed multiple opportunities that could have extended the lead, the overall display was promising for the matches ahead.
In a post-match interview, head coach Abdu Maikaba expressed gratitude for the victory and praised his players’ effort:
"I'm happy with the result and the performance of my players. The scoreline could have been different if not for some tactical lapses. Alhamdulillah. I believe we will go far as the team fully blends, especially since some players have only been with us for ten days."
Stand-in captain Yusuf Mohammed also shared his delight following the win, calling for continued support and prayers from the club’s fans:
"We are overjoyed with the victory and hope our supporters continue to understand and encourage us as the season progresses."
