Relegated Nigeria Premier Football League side, El-Kanemi Warriors FC, have expressed deep appreciation to their supporters following the club’s disappointing end to the 2025/2026 season.
In a statement released after the conclusion of the campaign, the Maiduguri-based side thanked fans for their unwavering loyalty, prayers, patience, and encouragement throughout a difficult season.
The club admitted that although they began the season positively, the final outcome fell short of expectations, describing football as unpredictable.
The Desert Warriors also acknowledged the pain and disappointment among supporters after suffering relegation from the NPFL, but urged fans not to abandon the club during the difficult period.
According to the club, with the backing and commitment of the Borno State Government, the team remains optimistic of making an immediate return to the top flight from the Nigeria National League (NNL).
El-Kanemi Warriors further assured supporters that efforts would be intensified to rebuild the squad and restore the club’s status among the country’s elite teams.
The former NPFL side ended the 2025/2026 season in 18th position after suffering a heavy 3-0 defeat to Enyimba International FC on the final day of the campaign in Aba.
Despite the heavy defeat to Enyimba International FC and the subsequent drop to the lower division, the management remains focused on restructuring the team for future success. By maintaining the vital support of both the government and their loyal fan base, the club aims to overcome this setback swiftly. The ultimate goal remains a prompt return to the top tier of Nigerian football, where they intend to compete at the highest level once again.
