Katsina United played out a goalless draw against Rangers Int’l in the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Match Day 27 fixture at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium (MDS).
The home side started brightly and created several early chances but failed to break the deadlock.
In the 7th minute, Boubacar Marselly picked out Uche Collins inside the box, but the forward could not get into the right position to finish.
Five minutes later, Rangers threatened from long range, but Zalli reacted quickly to punch the ball clear.
Katsina United came close again in the 28th minute when Uche Collins attempted an acrobatic effort, the team’s first real chance, but the ball went wide. In the 32nd minute, Jamilu Yusuf drove into the box from the right wing and fired a shot straight into the goalkeeper’s hands.
In the 37th minute, Collins shaped up well inside the box after a clever pass from Akanni but went down appealing for a penalty from a possible handball, but the referee waved play on.
The second half saw Katsina United return stronger, dominating possession for long periods. In the 52nd minute, Innocent swung in a dangerous cross into the Rangers’ box, but Abdullahi rose above everyone to clear the danger.
Rangers had their chances too. In the 72nd minute, Ejike Ezeochi tried a shot from outside the box, but it went wide for a goal kick. In the 80th minute, Rangers launched a counterattack through Obaje and Nwobodo, but Zalli reacted quickly to deny them, securing his seventh clean sheet of the season.
The match ended 0-0, with both sides sharing the points.
Katsina United now sit 7th on the table with 38 points, and their next fixture will be an away match against Remo Stars at their adopted home, Akure Township Stadium, Akure.
Meanwhile, Rangers Int'l FC boosted their title hopes by moving up to second position on the NPFL log.
