The Interim Management Committee of Lobi Stars Football Club has announced the indefinite suspension of their coach, Abubakar Bala, after evaluating the team’s poor performance in the ongoing 2025/2026 Nigeria National League (NNL) season.
The decision came following an emergency management meeting, with the club citing unsatisfactory results as the primary reason. Lobi Stars have played six matches, accumulating just seven points out of a possible 18, leaving them in sixth place out of eight teams in the league standings.
Emmanuel Terwase Uja, the club’s Director of Media and Communications, confirmed in a statement that Bala Mohammed, the Technical Adviser, has been relieved of his duties with immediate effect. He has been instructed to hand over responsibilities to the club’s Chief Coach, John Onuh, also known as Abacha.
Lobi Stars, former elite league champions, were relegated to the Nigeria National League last season after spending 27 years in the top-flight league. The management hopes that the coaching change will rejuvenate the team and improve their performance for the remainder of the season.
