Gombe United FC has announced the appointment of Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) veteran and former Nigeria Beach Soccer Nation Cup champion, Coach Suleman Usman—popularly known as Suleman Kalala—as the club’s new Chief Coach with immediate effect.
The appointment was confirmed in an official statement signed by Shuaibu Mohammad Angazy, Media Director of Gombe United FC. The decision takes effect immediately as the Savannah Scorpions prepare for their final match of the first stanza against Jigawa Golden Stars in the Nigeria National League (NNL).
Under an interim arrangement, Coach Haruna Abdullahi (Alanpasiey) has been named Technical Adviser, while Suleman Usman Kalala assumes the role of Chief Coach.
Coach Usman brings extensive experience both as a former professional footballer and as a coach. An educated sports professional, he holds a Bachelor of Science degree, is pursuing his Master’s program, and has completed advanced coaching certification with the Nigeria Institute of Sports (NIS).
During his playing career, the former midfield playmaker featured for several top clubs, including Ghanaian side Liberty Professionals, El-Kanemi Warriors, Gombe United, and Kano Pillars, among others.
Transitioning into coaching, Usman has led teams such as Zaki Mai Riga Football Club, DMD Football Club Maiduguri, CP Strikers Maiduguri, Police Bareta Gombe, and Mailantarki Care FC, Abuja.
His return to Gombe United is expected to bring discipline, experience, and tactical stability as the club aims for a strong finish to the current campaign and builds toward a competitive showing in the 2025/2026 NNL season.
