2025/2026 NNL Season: Akwa United Take on Godswill Akpabio in Pre-Season Title Decider

The 2025 Akwa United/Akwa Ibom State Football Association Pre-Season Tournament reaches its climax on Friday, 29 August, at the Uyo Township Stadium, with a decisive showdown between Akwa United FC and Godswill Akpabio United FC.

 

After four rounds of action in the six-team competition, Godswill Akpabio United top the standings with 10 points, while Akwa United sit second on 8 points. The highly anticipated clash, scheduled for 9 a.m., will determine the tournament winner. Akwa United require a victory to lift the trophy, whereas a draw will suffice for Godswill Akpabio United to claim the crown.

 

The day’s fixtures begin at 7 a.m., with third-placed P-Sports (6 points) taking on Immortality FC, who occupy the bottom of the table with just one point.

 

The final match of the tournament is set for 11 a.m., featuring Covenant FC (4 points) against Blackpool Football Academy (2 points). While neither team is in contention for the title, the game will be played for pride and valuable experience ahead of the new season.

 

The pre-season tournament has offered crucial match practice for all participating teams, including Akwa United and Godswill Akpabio United, as they prepare for their respective league campaigns in the 2025/2026 season.
