Visiting Inter Lagos FC delivered a commanding performance at the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba, defeating Abia Comets FC of Umuahia 3-0 in Match Day 6 of the ongoing 2025/2026 Nigeria National League (NNL).
Ibrahim Raheem opened the scoring for the visitors in the 21st minute, followed by Olasunkanmi Usman doubling the lead just before halftime in the 45th minute. The pressure continued after the interval as Adebisi Olamikun netted in the 47th minute, securing a 3-0 advantage that Inter Lagos held until the final whistle.
In a post-match interview, Inter Lagos coach Shakiru Giwa explained that the team had focused on improving their finishing after a previous game in which they missed several scoring opportunities.
“We trained extensively to improve our scoring ability after our last match. We went back to the drawing board and corrected a few things,” Giwa said. “Although we still missed chances today, the league is an ongoing process, and we will continue to refine our performance before the next game. We eased off after scoring three goals to focus on defending them. These three goals and three points mean a lot to us.”
Giwa also praised Abia Comets as a strong team capable of giving them a tough challenge, while suggesting that fatigue from a midweek fixture may have affected the hosts’ performance.
Meanwhile, Abia Comets coach Dipreye Teibowei declined to comment after the match, retreating to the dressing room visibly frustrated at the final whistle.
