2024 FA Cup: Enyimba Assistant says striker's profiligacy responsible for loss against Abia Warriors

Enyimba FC Assistant Coach, Yemi Olanrewaju, has expressed displeasure with his team’s failure to convert their chances in the defeat to Abia Warriors in the 2024 Abia State Federation Cup.


Abia Warriors emerged champions of the Abia FA Cup after defeating Enyimba 4-2 on penalties in the final decided at the Umuahia Township Stadium.


Olanrewaju, however, said the FA Cup allowed the young players to showcase their talents, adding that he has shifted his attention to the NPFL.


"It was a good game, and playing on this turf that we are not used to. I'm impressed with the kind of game that we played today. I am impressed because we dominated for the duration of the game.


"We could have scored three or four goals in the second half, but our focus is on the league. This is just one of those things.


"A lot of young players who featured in the FA Cup did very well. That is what is important to me even though we wanted to win. I am happy with the performance."


Enyimba will host Kano Pillars in a mid-week NPFL game at the Enyimba FC Stadium in Aba.
