2024/25 NNL Season: Sokoto United Receives Double Honour at NNL Gala Night

Sokoto United Football Club has been honoured with two prestigious national awards as the Most Behaved Team in the Nigeria National League (NNL) for the months of April and May 2025.

This commendation reflects the club’s unwavering commitment to discipline, professionalism, and sportsmanship throughout the current league season.

The awards were presented at a high-profile NNL Gala Night and Awards Ceremony held at West Point Hotel, Wuse Zone 7, Abuja, organized by NNL leadership to celebrate excellence across the league.

The event drew top football dignitaries including:

  • Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau, President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and Chairman of WAFU B
  • The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Grassroots Football Development
  • NNL Board Chairman, Chief George Aluo
  • NNL COO, Danladi Bako Alanana
  • NNL CEO, Emmanuel Attah
  • Chairman of the FCT Football Association
  • Other key stakeholders in Nigerian football

Sokoto United stood out among all clubs, earning the Most Behaved Team title for both April and May—a rare feat that solidifies the team’s image as a model of discipline in Nigerian football.

The awards were received on behalf of the club by Head Coach Peter Ajeni and Media Officer Abdulsalam Ibrahim Imam.

Speaking after the event, Coach Ajeni thanked the organizers and emphasized the club’s commitment to fair play, unity, and professionalism:

“This double honour is not just a recognition of how we play the game, but of who we are as a football institution. We are proud to represent Sokoto State with dignity.”

Media Officer Abdulsalam Ibrahim added:

“The awards are a strong motivation for our players and management to keep up the high standards of conduct while pursuing our on-field goals.”

Sokoto United FC continues to focus on their 2024/25 campaign, with ambitions of gaining promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) while upholding the core values of discipline and integrity in the sport.
