2024/25 NNL: Dakkada’s Anietie Uko Wins Goal of the Month Award

Dakkada FC’s midfield maestro, Anietie Uko, popularly known as “Iron”, has been named winner of the NNL/Prostar/Sports Lighthub Goal of the Month Award for May 2025.

According to a notification from the Nigeria National League (NNL), Uko’s sensational goal against Crown FC of Ogbomoso on Matchday 18 at the Uyo Township Stadium earned him the prestigious recognition.

The goal—which has been widely praised for its technique and execution—was Uko’s fifth of the season. It came at a critical point in the match with Dakkada trailing and time running out.

Following a long throw-in by Edoho Mfon, the clearance by Crown’s Adeleke Olalekan was met first-time by Uko, who rifled a low volley from outside the box into the bottom corner, slicing through a sea of defenders. Crown’s goalkeeper, Sultan Mubarak, was left rooted to the spot as the ball flew in.

Though the match ended 1-1, Uko’s strike provided a memorable highlight and has drawn rave reviews across the media.

The Goal of the Month award will be officially presented at a ceremony scheduled for June 18 at Westpoint Hotel, Abuja.
