Bayelsa Queens have departed Yenagoa via the Port Harcourt International Airport for Adamawa State, Yola, ahead of their 2024/2025 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Match Day 12 tie.
The "Prosperity Girls" will take on Adamawa Queens in the Match Day 12 fixture, having defeated struggling Benue Queens 2-0 in their last game at the Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenagoa.
Bayelsa Queens jetted out of Yenagoa via Arik Airlines, courtesy of the Bayelsa State government, to ease the stress of long-distance travel for their players, enabling them to execute their matches just like the men’s Bayelsa United.
Reacting to the development, the Chairman of the club, Robin Apreala, expressed his gratitude to Governor Senator Douye Diri and his deputy, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, for prioritizing the welfare and comfort of players in the state. He stated that this gesture is a testament to the prosperity administration's commitment to sports development.
He also praised the Commissioner for Sports Development, Daniel Igali, for his direct supervision, ensuring that the team competes favorably with their peers in the league, and assured Bayelsans of the trophy at the end of the season.
Apreala urged the players of Bayelsa Queens not to consider their current position in the league as a success until the season's goals are fully achieved, stating that the players are in high spirits.
The "Prosperity Girls" are currently sitting first in Group B of the league with 29 points, three points ahead of rivals Rivers Angels of Port Harcourt. They have qualified for the Super 6 and are aiming to consolidate their unbeaten record this season with a win.
