2024/2025 NPFL Match Day 37: Abia Warriors confront El-Kanemi Warriors in Umuahia

It will be a final “Warriors” showdown as Abia Warriors, chasing a continental spot, host El-Kanemi Warriors, who are still in the relegation mix.


Abia sit fourth with 56 points and are firmly in the race for top honours as they face the Maiduguri side.


El-Kanemi defeated Remo Stars last time out but face a tougher task against an Abia team that held Niger Tornadoes away.


A win would bring Abia closer to their continental dream, while a loss could send El-Kanemi into the drop zone depending on other results.


However, the coach of the Umu Chineke Boys, Imama Amapakabo, has called for focus as they push for the continental ticket.


Amapakabo urged his players to remain focused on securing a top-three finish.


The Umuahia-based club is currently in third position, but they are at risk of missing out if Ikorodu City pull off a surprise—especially since Abia Warriors will face Ikorodu City on the very last day of the league season.


Amapakabo expressed optimism that his team would gather the points needed in the remaining games.


“We started the season with the mindset to fight for every point, which has brought us to where we are now.


"Two games to go until the end of the campaign, we will keep working hard and believe that we will get the results.


“Our expectations are in sight. We hope to keep our heads on our shoulders until we reach our destination.”


Amapakabo also stated that his team would pay close attention to their last two league fixtures.
