2024/2025 NPFL Match Day 35: Relegation battles rage as Sunshine welcomes Katsina United FC

The 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Match Day 35 is set to be a decider for Sunshine Stars as they welcome Katsina United to Ikenne for a chance to either win or face relegation.


This match could very well seal the fate of the Owena Whales, as a loss would confirm their drop as the second team to the lower league after Lobi Stars of Makurdi.


Currently, the Akure Gunners sit in 19th position with 38 points from 34 matches, having recorded 10 wins, 8 draws, and 16 losses.


The other team in relegation waters, Akwa United, also has 38 points, just like the Akure Gunners, but with a better goal difference.


While the Promise Keepers will be playing at home against Shooting Stars SC of Ibadan, Sunshine Stars, from the same Southwest region, will host a northern opposition, a team also battling for a safer place on the NPFL log.
