2024/2025 NNL Season: Sporting Lagos FC Misses Out on Super 8

Sporting Lagos FC have failed to qualify for the 2024/2025 Nigeria National League (NNL) Super 8 playoffs, missing out on a crucial promotion ticket to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL). In a high-stakes Match Day 22 encounter against Solution FC, the Noisy Lagosians played out a thrilling 3-3 draw, which proved insufficient to secure their spot in the elite league.

The standout performer of the match was striker Aliyu Baba, who netted a brilliant hattrick to take his goal tally to six in just five starts since joining from Mahanaim FC during the mid-season transfer window. Despite his heroics, a late comeback from Solution FC denied Sporting Lagos the win they desperately needed, bringing their promotion hopes to a disappointing end.

Baba’s impact since his arrival has been immediate. He scored a brace in his debut against Abakaliki FC and followed up with another goal off the bench versus First Bank FC before finishing the season in style with a hattrick on Sunday.
