Crown FC of Ogbomosho is on the brink of a historic promotion, taking a major step toward securing their first Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) berth in over six seasons.
The Oyo-based club clinched a vital 2-1 away victory over Ijele FC of Enugu at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, a result that guarantees their place in the NNL Super 8 playoffs as one of the top two teams in Southern Conference Group A.
Second-half goals from Jonathan Okechukwu and Mojeed Adekunle sealed the deal for Crown FC, who produced a resilient performance under pressure.
Okechukwu broke the deadlock in the 49th minute with a composed close-range finish, before Ijele FC leveled the scores. But Adekunle stepped up in the 75th minute to restore Crown’s lead, ensuring the all-important three points.
With this result, Crown FC now joins Warri Wolves as the two Southern Conference A representatives in the upcoming Super 8 playoff—where NPFL promotion will be up for grabs.
