The only Kano representative in the 2025 Nigeria National League season, Barau FC, defeated former Nigerian Premier Football League team Gombe United by two goals to nil at Danbatta Township Stadium.
The Maliya Boys, wearing dark blue shirts, overwhelmed Gombe United, with skipper Saidu (jersey No. 27) opening the scoring via a penalty before the end of the first half, and Shammasu Muhd securing the victory for Barau FC with a second goal.
Barau FC are in fifth position with 12 points after playing 9 matches in Group C.
Skipper Shammasu was named Man of the Match after scoring a brilliant goal from about 30 meters for Barau FC.
Gombe United coach, Abdullahi Umar, said in his press conference:
"We lost the game 2-0. After conceding two goals from the Maliya Boys players, we will go back and plan for the upcoming matches because we have to win them."
The goals scored by Shammasu and Saidu sparked thunderous celebrations among the home fans.
Barau FC will play their next match against Jigawa Golden Stars at Kazaure Stadium, the home ground of Jigawa.
