The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, paid a morale-boosting visit to Barau Football Club’s training ground on Monday, ahead of the 2025 Nigerian National League (NNL) Super Eight Playoffs.
He was accompanied by the Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Yusuf Abdullahi Atta; his Chief of Staff, Professor Muhammad Ibn Abdullah; Special Adviser on Youth and Sports, Kabiru Ado Lakwaya; and other dignitaries.
During the visit, Senator Barau congratulated the club for qualifying for the NNL Super Eight Playoffs and announced a generous donation of ₦2 million to the team as a Sallah gift. He also pledged continued support for the club as it pushes for promotion to the Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) next season.
“We are here to visit and motivate you, the young players of Barau FC. My vision is to see this club among the top teams in Nigeria and eventually in the world. By the grace of God, I will support you in every possible way to gain promotion to the NPFL,” he said.
The Barau FC management team, led by Club Chairman Ambassador Ibrahim Shitu Chanji, warmly received the Senate Deputy President. Other officials present included Board Member Alhaji Abdul AP, Sporting Director Yahya Muhammad, Club Secretary Umar Lawan, and Curator Aliyu Lawan.
Also in attendance were the club’s technical crew: Technical Adviser Rabi’u Tata, Chief Coach Madu Muhammad, Assistant Coach Surajo Mukhtar, and Goalkeeper Trainer Babangida Muhammad.
Speaking on behalf of the players, Usman Maidubji expressed heartfelt gratitude to Senator Barau, emphasizing that his steadfast support has been instrumental to the club’s development and success.
Barau FC continues its preparation for the crucial Super Eight Playoffs, where it will compete with seven other clubs for a coveted spot in the NPFL.
