2023/2024 NPFL: Sporting Lagos FC Coach Offor banks on new signings to improve team's performance

Posted : 21 February 2024

After securing back-to-back wins against Rivers United FC in the rescheduled 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Match Day 19 and Match Day 20 fixtures against Bendel Insurance, Sporting Lagos FC's Technical Director, Paul Offor, expresses hope of seeing more contributions from the newly signed players to rescue the team from its precarious situation.

Recall that the league debutant, Sporting Lagos FC, endured an underwhelming campaign in the first stanza with a string of losses and seven league matches without a win.

Now, the team has gone to the market to shop for quality additions, which has been key to the recent performances.

However, Tech Boys' gaffer, Paul Offor, hailed the contribution of the newly recruited duo, Muhammad Jamil and David Adeleke, in the club’s 1-0 win against Rivers United and Bendel Insurance.

Both players made their debuts in the game at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in the first league match.

Offor admitted that the duo helped stabilize the weak defense of the team.

He added that the win eased the pressure on his side.

“The new players came in very handy in the game, especially Jamil and Adeleke.

“Both players helped us beef up the defense, which we have been struggling with during the course of the first round.

“We hope to build on the win when the second stanza resumes later in the week.”

The victory ended Sporting Lagos' seven-game winless run in the NPFL.
