Remo Stars head coach Daniel Ogunmodede reflected on his team’s dramatic 2-1 victory against Kano Pillars in the NPFL, highlighting the resilience and character displayed by his players. The match, which was intensely contested, saw Remo Stars secure a crucial win in the dying moments, keeping their title aspirations very much alive.

The victory was particularly significant as it demonstrated the team's ability to persevere and perform under pressure. Coach Daniel Ogunmodede shared his emotions after the match, expressing his astonishment and joy. “It’s unbelievable. Incredible. I never thought we could get the maximum three points with what happened in the game,” he said, clearly moved by the last-minute triumph.

Despite the early goal, Ogunmodede was critical of his team’s overall performance during much of the match. “We had a very poor game today. After we scored in the early minutes, we went to sleep. We underrated them and were seriously dead,” he admitted. This candid reflection shows the high standards he holds for his squad and his willingness to address their shortcomings.

Kano Pillars capitalized on a blunder by Remo Stars’ goalkeeper early in the second half, leveling the score. Ogunmodede acknowledged the mistake but emphasized the importance of his team’s perseverance. “It’s one of those days. The team generally didn’t do as well as expected today. But in terms of character, we showed a lot of character. And that is what is most important. And at the end, it paid off,” he noted, highlighting the mental fortitude required to bounce back from errors.

The coach’s sentiments reflect the critical need for determination during this stage of the campaign. With their next match against Lobi Stars, Ogunmodede remains optimistic about their title chances. “We are 59 points now. The league leader is 60 points. That’s just a point difference. Twelve more points to fight for, that’s about four matches. So the league is widely and extremely open,” he explained, indicating the tight race and the opportunities still available.

Remo Stars’ victory not only secured three crucial points but also demonstrated their ability to fight back under pressure, keeping their hopes for the league title alive. This win was a testament to the team's resilience and never-say-die attitude, crucial traits as the season heads towards its climax.

The upcoming clash with Lobi Stars will be pivotal as the season reaches its climax. Ogunmodede and his team will need to harness the momentum from their recent win and channel it into consistent performances to maintain their challenge for the top spot in the league.
