Shooting Stars SC Technical Adviser, Gbenga Ogunbote, has expressed no regrets over his team's loss on Match Day 16 of the 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) against Rangers International FC in Enugu.
Recalling that Ogunbote, having previously coached Rangers International FC, returned to familiar ground but couldn't secure anything from the game as the Flying Antelopes claimed a clean sheet and three points.
Instead, the tactician praised his boys for their bravery against a team inspired by their first league match at home in over two years.
In his overall assessment, Ogunbote declared that his team did not play too poorly.
"We played well enough, except the fact that we had no goals to show for it. Nobody will say we were humiliated except for the goals. Sometimes goals do not actually determine the strength of play. Be it as it may, we take the positives from the match,” he said.
However, Ogunbote lamented the team's poor run in the league and assured that things would improve in the coming days.
“It’s unfortunate we’ve not won in a couple of games. We are not comfortable with it. So, we are seriously working on it and by God’s grace, sooner than expected we will bounce back,” he reassured.
Shooting Stars are in the 13th position with 19 points from 15 matches in the 20-team NPFL table but with a game in hand. Rangers International sit in the ninth spot with 22 points, also from 15 games – with one outstanding match.
