10th SheFootball: Organisers Promise Impactful Tournament

Posted : 26 December 2025

Former Nigerian international Ayisat Yusuf has revealed that the 10th edition of the SheFootball program will be an impactful event, featuring top professionals who will educate the girl child on how to succeed in life through football.

The SheFootball event has been an annual initiative by the Ayisat Yusuf Foundation, aimed at empowering girls through the sport.

The 2026 edition will see more than 5,000 girls engaged in football activities, provided with official club jerseys for all participating teams, and benefiting from mentorship programs.

The tenth edition of SheFootball will begin with a seminar at 8 a.m., followed by matches starting at 9 a.m. The event will be held at Anglican Primary School, Ilado, Badagry, on January 3rd, 2026.

Past editions of SheFootball have inspired hope for young girls aspiring to a career in football, as founder Ayisat Yusuf distributes football boots and other merchandise to support player development from grassroots to professional levels.

The former Super Falcons player said she finds joy in creating platforms for girls to thrive, acknowledging that such opportunities were limited during her own professional career.

The FIFPRO Merit Award winner also revealed plans for a larger event in the summer of 2026, where top European football agents will be invited to identify and nurture grassroots players into global stars.

“I’m glad to give these young girls a platform to showcase themselves and receive mentorship from top professionals in various fields.

“This gives them an edge and insight into what to expect as they progress in their careers.

“We are also introducing additional benefits for the girls as we celebrate our tenth anniversary. In the summer, top European football agents will be in Nigeria, courtesy of the Ayisat Yusuf Foundation, to select the best talents.

“There are also several other benefits planned for the summer, but for now, these will remain under wraps,” she added.
