VCT 2024 kickoff series concludes with record viewership, sentinels’ triumph in Americas

Posted : 05 March 2024

Over the weekend, VALORANT's VCT Kickoff events for the 2024 season concluded, with VCT Americas's Kickoff ranking as the ninth-highest-viewed event in the game's history, amassing over 820,000 viewers. According to data from Esports Charts, VCT 2024 Pacific Kickoff and VCT 2024 EMEA Kickoff achieved peak viewerships of 460,000 and 420,000, respectively.

These Kickoff events, introduced in 2024 to mark the beginning of the competitive season in each region, replace the previous VCT LOCK//IN 2023. The top two teams from each Kickoff event now qualify for VALORANT's next international showcase, VCT Masters Madrid.

Starting in mid-to-late February, the Kickoff tournaments spanned regions, with VCT Americas being the last to conclude. Despite data limitations for viewership from China, the Esports Charts reported just over 61,000 peak viewers for VCT China. However, actual figures would likely be higher if Chinese platforms were included. Sentinels emerged victorious in VCT Americas, accumulating over 10.7 million hours watched, making it the standout league among the four events.

VCT Pacific and VCT EMEA had similar peak viewership numbers, with only a 40,000-viewer difference. These figures propelled the tournaments into the top 20 most-watched VALORANT events, a notable success compared to the previous season's statistics.

VCT Pacific had 399,000 peak viewers, while the EMEA League reached around 300,000 peak viewers last season. French esports organization Karmine Corp secured victory in VCT EMEA, while Gen.G claimed the Kickoff crown for VCT Pacific, with Team Heretics and Paper Rex securing the runner-up positions.

The robust viewership figures underscore the popularity of events marking the start of the VALORANT season, with the 2023 LOCK/IN tournament still holding the second-highest viewership record in the game's history at 1.44 million peak viewers.
