The International 2026: Top Contenders and Predictions for the Aegis of Champions

The International 2026 has reached its decisive stage, with eight teams remaining in contention for the Aegis of Champions. The Main Event takes place from August 20 to 23 at Shanghai’s Oriental Sports Center, with a double-elimination bracket giving the contenders a final opportunity to fight their way to the title.

PARIVISION enters the playoffs as one of the strongest candidates after an impressive 2026 campaign. The team has already collected four tournament victories this year, including the Esports World Cup, and its combination of consistency and recent success makes it a leading contender for the Aegis.

Team Liquid is another serious threat. Although its Esports World Cup run ended earlier than expected, Liquid bounced back by winning 1win Essence II immediately before The International. That recent championship could give the squad valuable momentum heading into the Shanghai playoffs.

Defending champions Team Falcons cannot be overlooked either. Their season has been less dominant than their title-winning 2025 campaign, but reaching the 1win Essence II final showed that the roster remains capable of producing elite performances when it matters most.

Team Yandex also deserves attention after a strong season that has established them as one of the tournament's most consistent teams. Their recent results have placed them among the leading contenders, while Team Spirit and the other remaining squads could still disrupt the expected title race.

With no clear runaway favorite, the Main Event is shaping up to be one of the most unpredictable stages of The International in recent years. PARIVISION may have the strongest case on current form, but Liquid, Yandex, Falcons and Spirit all have realistic paths to lifting the Aegis.
