Team Vitality Claims Fifth Straight CS2 Title with BLAST Rivals Victory

Posted : 06 May 2025

Team Vitality has reinforced its supremacy in the Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) competitive landscape by clinching the BLAST Rivals tournament title, marking yet another triumph in an impressive winning streak. The French esports powerhouse once again overcame Saudi Arabian squad Team Falcons in the Grand Final, repeating their success from the previous week’s Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) Melbourne victory.

This latest result secures Vitality’s fifth consecutive championship, adding to a trophy cabinet already boasting wins at IEM Katowice, ESL Pro League Season 21, BLAST Open Rivals, and IEM Melbourne.

Their victory at BLAST Rivals extends Vitality’s unbeaten run to 25 consecutive matches, placing them second in the all-time CS2 win streak rankings, just behind Ninjas in Pyjamas’ legendary 60-match streak.

Alongside the tournament title, Team Vitality collected $125,000 in prize money and earned two Frequent Flyers Program (FFP) tokens from BLAST’s revenue-sharing initiative. The team now tops the FFP standings with six points, outpacing Team Spirit, who trail with four.

In the Grand Final series, Team Falcons managed a surprising opening win on Inferno, ending Vitality’s 16-map streak on that battleground with a 13-9 result. Nevertheless, Vitality struck back forcefully, taking Dust2 and Train with identical 13-6 victories.

Mirage saw an intense showdown, with Falcons building a massive lead before Vitality clawed back to force overtime, only to narrowly lose following a 1v2 clutch by m0NESY. The decider on Nuke saw Vitality regain full control as star players Robin 'ropz' Kool and Mathieu 'ZywOo' Herbaut delivered standout performances, combining for 44 kills in a 13-8 win.

ZywOo's dominance earned him the tournament MVP honor for the 25th time in his career, further distancing himself from Oleksandr 's1mple' Kostyliev in the all-time awards tally. The BLAST Rivals Grand Final drew over one million live viewers, according to Esports Charts, making it the second most-watched BLAST event ever, behind only the BLAST Paris Major. Vitality’s continued success not only cements their place at the top of the CS2 scene but also highlights the team’s growing legacy in the esports world.
