Riot Games Launches In-Game Fundraisers to Support Wildfire Recovery Efforts

Posted : 17 January 2025

Riot Games has launched an in-game fundraising initiative to support those affected by the recent wildfires in Los Angeles. Starting on January 22nd, players of League of Legends and VALORANT will be able to contribute to disaster recovery efforts through the Riot Games Social Impact Fund. The funds raised will assist organizations working to aid those impacted by natural disasters in Southern California and other areas worldwide.

From January 22nd to 30th, VALORANT will offer its EX.O Collection as a "Give Back Bundle," with all proceeds from the sale of weapon skins and accessories going toward the fundraiser. League of Legends will bring back its limited-edition Firefighter Tristana skin from January 23rd to February 5th, with all proceeds benefiting the initiative. The Firefighter Tristana skin, originally released in 2010, had been retired due to its legacy status, making its return especially significant for players.

The EX.O skin line, the latest release in VALORANT, will contribute to the campaign, alongside the revival of Firefighter Tristana, a nostalgic and beloved skin in League of Legends. The funds raised will be directed to several organizations involved in disaster relief, including the California Fire Foundation, Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, International Medical Corps, American Red Cross, and World Central Kitchen, among others.

Riot Games, based in Los Angeles, has also taken steps to support its affected employees, with several losing their homes in the wildfires. The company closed its offices to all but critical functions and is providing temporary housing, emergency stipends, and advisory services to help Rioters during this challenging time. Riot Games has expressed its commitment to continuously adapt its support as the needs of its staff become clearer.
