Paritosh Reaches Asian Games Quarter-Finals in Puyo Puyo Champions

Indian debutant Paritosh advanced to the quarter-finals of the Puyo Puyo Champions esports competition at the 2026 Asian Games after finishing third in Group B with a 2-2 record.

Paritosh began his campaign strongly on Thursday, defeating Mongolia’s Munkhzorig Ganbold 3-0 before edging Singapore’s Koh Mun June Justin 3-2. The two victories gave the Indian player a strong foundation in the group stage.

His final two matches proved more difficult. Chinese Taipei’s Tzu-ang Kuo handed him a 3-0 defeat, while Thailand’s Tanarak Wongkitikun won their closely contested encounter 3-2.

Despite those back-to-back losses, Paritosh’s two victories were enough to secure third place in Group B. With the top three players from each group advancing, the result kept India’s campaign alive in the esports competition.

The quarter-finals are scheduled for Saturday at the Aichi Sky Expo in Tokoname, where the knockout stage of the Puyo Puyo Champions event will take place. Paritosh’s progress gives India an opportunity to continue its challenge in one of the esports disciplines at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.

Puyo Puyo Champions is a competitive puzzle game in which players arrange coloured pieces to create chains and send obstacles to their opponents. It is one of the esports titles included in the 2026 Asian Games programme.
