As part of the National Sports Commission's (NSC) ongoing commitment to revamp eSports in Nigeria, the Director General, Bukola Olopade, convened a strategic meeting with key stakeholders in the eSports ecosystem.
Speaking during the virtual meeting, Olopade emphasized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR's resolve to position Nigeria as a major player in the multi-billion-dollar eSports industry.

"This meeting is the next step in the Commission's determination to place eSports where it rightly belongs by providing the proper regulation and framework for sustainable operation," he said.
“I am sure you, as stakeholders in the eSports family, must have noticed the new mandate given to us by the President to build a strong sports economy. The Commission sees eSports as a major driver in achieving this."
Olopade reiterated the NSC’s commitment to fostering unity within the sector, adding, "This is why the NSC, under the Chairmanship of Mallam Shehu Dikko, is keen on bringing all stakeholders in the eSports family under one united federation."
“The National Sports Commission has ambitious plans for the growth of eSports, which is why all factions must come together for the sport to reach its full potential."
Looking ahead, he revealed the Commission's ambition to integrate eSports into the National Sports Festival and ensure Nigeria's participation in major international eSports tournaments.
The virtual meeting was attended by prominent stakeholders in the Nigerian eSports community, including Yaya Maikori, Sidney Esiri (Dr. Sid), Ikechukwu Okoye, Sayo Owolabi, Ifeanyi Elumeziem (spokesman), and Damilola Pedro, Co-founder and Head of Partnership at Gamr Africa.
