Ukrainian esports powerhouse NAVI has announced a major restructuring of its Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) division, placing its NAVI Junior academy roster up for sale. At the same time, one of its standout talents, Drin ‘Makazze’ Shaqiri, has been promoted to the organisation’s main team lineup.
In a public statement, NAVI confirmed that it will entertain offers for the entire NAVI Junior roster, including its spot in the Valve Regional Standings (VRS), where the team currently ranks 27th. The sale package includes four players, a coach, and the team’s eligibility for CS2 Major invitations.
Makazze, who had been instrumental in NAVI Junior's recent successes, will now step up to the main roster. The organisation has yet to disclose which player he will be replacing, but his debut will take place at the upcoming IEM Cologne, scheduled for July 23 to August 3, 2025.
The organisation cited ecosystem constraints within competitive CS2 as a core reason for the academy team’s disbandment. According to NAVI, the current structure limits long-term development under the organisation’s branding, prompting this strategic move.
Despite its short existence since forming in May 2024, NAVI Junior achieved significant milestones. The squad secured victories at events such as YaLLa Compass, the inaugural European series for the Thunderpick World Championship, and two CCT Season 3 European Series titles.
Looking ahead, NAVI has confirmed intentions to rebuild a new version of its academy team to continue developing emerging talent in the CS2 scene. In the meantime, the focus shifts to integrating Makazze into the main lineup and preparing for IEM Cologne.
NAVI’s decision contrasts with moves from other global organisations like The MongolZ, who have recently launched their own youth-focused CS2 squad, signaling a broader shift in how teams invest in the next generation of players.
