Natus Vincere (NAVI) have knocked Team Spirit out of PGL Masters Bucharest 2026 after winning a decisive 2-1 series in the final round of the Swiss stage. The result ended the tournament run of the world’s top-ranked team and secured NAVI a place in the quarter-finals.
The series featured dramatic momentum swings across three maps. NAVI dominated the opening map, Cache, before Spirit responded on Dust2 to level the contest. However, NAVI delivered a commanding performance on Anubis to win the series and eliminate their opponents. The defeat was reportedly Spirit’s first loss to NAVI since February 2025.
NAVI’s journey to the playoffs was far from straightforward. They began the Swiss stage with victories over G2 Esports and FURIA, including an extended three-overtime battle against G2, before their form deteriorated.
BetBoom Team handed NAVI a 2-0 defeat, winning Dust2 13-10 and Nuke 13-9. Team Vitality then inflicted another 2-0 loss, beating NAVI 13-2 on Inferno and 13-9 on Dust2. Those back-to-back defeats left the Ukrainian organisation facing elimination in the 2-2 group.
Spirit also entered the deciding match after suffering a setback against MOUZ on October 27. Although they won Nuke 13-2, they subsequently lost Dust2 13-8 and narrowly fell on Mirage 16-14, forcing them into a must-win encounter against NAVI.
The loss means Spirit miss out on the playoffs despite entering the competition as the highest-ranked team in the world. Teams finishing ninth to 11th receive $31,250, while quarter-final losers are guaranteed $50,000.
NAVI’s reward for surviving the Swiss stage is a quarter-final meeting with Vitality, who defeated them earlier in the tournament. The upcoming encounter presents an opportunity for NAVI to avenge that loss as they attempt to progress further in Bucharest.
Vitality will compete with Justinas “jL” Lekavicius standing in for Dan “apEX” Madesclaire. The organisation previously announced that jL would temporarily join the lineup for selected events, including PGL Masters Bucharest.
The remaining quarter-final fixtures feature Nemiga against FUT, Aurora against MOUZ, and BetBoom Team against FURIA. Nemiga and FURIA also secured playoff places on the final day of the Swiss stage, defeating The MongolZ and Team Liquid respectively by 2-0 margins.
PGL Masters Bucharest 2026 is a 16-team LAN Counter-Strike 2 tournament taking place in Bucharest, Romania. The event features a $1.25 million prize pool and is one of the final major competitions before the PGL Major Singapore 2026.
With the Swiss stage complete, the competition has moved into a single-elimination playoff bracket. Teams must win each series to remain in contention, leaving no opportunity for a lower-bracket recovery after defeat.
For NAVI, eliminating Team Spirit represents an important recovery after two consecutive losses. Their next challenge against Vitality will test whether they can maintain that momentum and turn a difficult group-stage campaign into a deep playoff run.
