LOUD Defeat NRG to Reach VCT Champions 2026 Upper-Bracket Final

Posted : 13 October 2026

LOUD secured a 2-1 victory over NRG in the upper-bracket semi-final of VCT Champions 2026 on October 10, booking their place in the next stage of the VALORANT tournament. The Brazilian team overcame a determined challenge from the reigning world champions to move closer to the grand final, while NRG, featuring British player Keiko, dropped into the lower bracket.

The best-of-three series featured three lengthy maps, with LOUD taking the opener in 46 minutes. NRG responded with a 49-minute victory in the second map to level the contest and force a decider. LOUD then delivered their strongest performance of the series, winning the final map in 36 minutes to complete the upset.

The victory extended LOUD’s winning streak at Champions to three matches. After opening their campaign with a 2-0 win over EDward Gaming, they suffered a 0-2 defeat to Team Vitality. The team subsequently recovered with victories over Global Esports and Paper Rex before eliminating NRG from the upper-bracket semi-final.

NRG entered the match in strong form, having won their previous three series against Nongshim RedForce, Karmine Corp and T1. However, the loss ended that run and forced the North American team to take the longer route through the lower bracket to keep their title defence alive.

LOUD Set Up Another Clash With Team Vitality

LOUD’s next challenge is a rematch against Team Vitality, the only team to defeat them at the tournament before the NRG series. Vitality booked their place in the upper-bracket final with a convincing 2-0 victory over G2 Esports, setting up another high-stakes encounter between the two sides.

The upcoming match offers LOUD an opportunity to avenge their earlier defeat and secure direct qualification for the grand final. Their previous meeting ended in a 2-0 victory for Vitality, making the rematch an important test of LOUD’s progress throughout the playoffs.

NRG, meanwhile, faced a difficult path through the lower bracket alongside other teams fighting to remain in contention. T1 and 100 Thieves had also secured lower-bracket victories, defeating Paper Rex and Nongshim RedForce 2-1, respectively. NRG’s earlier 2-0 win over T1 in the upper-bracket quarter-final highlighted the possibility of another encounter between the teams as the competition progressed.

LOUD Overcome Pre-Tournament Expectations

The result was notable given the difference between the teams’ pre-match Elo rankings. NRG entered the series ranked 12th with a rating of 1,791 and a record of 73 wins and 36 losses across 109 rated matches. LOUD were ranked 51st, with a rating of 1,672 and a 29-37 record from 66 matches. Despite the statistical gap, LOUD delivered when it mattered most.

The teams had shared their four previous encounters in 2026, winning two matches apiece before their latest meeting. LOUD’s latest success gives them consecutive victories over NRG and strengthens their position heading into the closing stages of Champions.

With the tournament scheduled to conclude on October 18, the stakes are rising for every remaining team. LOUD will aim to secure a grand-final berth against Vitality, while NRG must navigate the lower bracket to preserve their hopes of defending their world championship title.
