Tournament organiser BLAST has confirmed that Argentine esports team BESTIA will be replaced by Brazilian organisation Legacy for the upcoming BLAST.tv Austin Major. The decision was attributed to BESTIA facing difficulties obtaining US visas, which prevented their participation. Legacy, who finished as runners-up to BESTIA in the South American MRQ qualifiers, will now take their place in the tournament starting on June 2nd.
Legacy’s entry into the Major marks a significant opportunity, as BESTIA had been set to make their Major debut after narrowly missing out on qualification for the Perfect World Major in late 2024.
Their first match at the Austin Major will be against Chinese team Lynn Vision, kicking off their campaign in the initial stage of the event. BLAST’s decision has sparked debate within the Counter-Strike community, especially given BESTIA’s growing reputation in the South American esports scene.
Following the announcement, BESTIA revealed that their players had obtained US visas by May 26th and claimed that they had been trying to submit the necessary documents to BLAST, but their efforts were ignored.
The move to exclude BESTIA drew support from several prominent Counter-Strike players who expressed frustration with the decision, arguing the team deserved to compete and that the visa issue could have been resolved in time.
BESTIA has established itself as one of South America’s top Counter-Strike teams, recently winning the Frost and Fire tournament at the start of 2025, where they defeated Legacy in the grand final to claim the majority of the $25,000 prize pool.
The controversy has attracted widespread attention, with over 30 players and ten esports organisations publicly backing BESTIA. Esports Insider has reached out to BLAST for further comment on the situation.
