League of Legends World Championship 2024 finals to grace London's O2 Arena

Riot Games has revealed that the 2024 League of Legends World Championship finals are set to grace London's O2 Arena, marking a return to the English capital for the tournament after its last appearance in 2015.
 
This shift sees the prestigious League of Legends event returning to London for the first time since it hosted quarter-finals at the OVO Arena Wembley. London has emerged as a favored destination for esports gatherings, hosting events like the 2023 Mid-Season Invitational at the Copper Box Arena and the Apex Legends Global Series Championship in Birmingham’s Resorts World Arena.
 
The O2 Arena in London has a rich history of hosting diverse events, ranging from NBA games to ATP tennis circuit finals and star-studded concerts featuring artists such as Adele and Beyoncé.
 
This return of League of Legends to the UK signals the first instance of the World Championship being held in Europe since 2021 when the event took place in Iceland due to the pandemic-driven relocation from China.
 
The pinnacle event of the 2024 League of Legends World Championship is scheduled for November 2nd at the O2 Arena. While specific details about other tournament venues are yet to be unveiled, reports suggest that Paris is also slated to host a significant part of the competition.
 
Alisa Buck, Head of Major Events and City Experience at London & Partners, expressed enthusiasm about the news, highlighting London's burgeoning esports sector and the city's readiness to embrace such events. She emphasized the city’s well-equipped stadiums and a diverse fan base eager for new experiences.
 
The announcement was made amid the broadcast of this year’s League of Legends World Championship Finals, setting a new record as the most-watched esports event ever.
